Organ pipes.
PIRA: Unknown
Square organ pipes of several different lengths are built of spruce. A whistle notch is made close to on end. The far end has a plug so the tube may resonate either as a closed pipe or as an open pipe. The distinctive tones the organ pipes produce are a function of the standing sound waves each is tuned to produce. The frequency decreases by a factor of two when the plug is removed.
