Cork physical pendulum.
A cork is attached to each end of a bent wire which is supported on a horizontal rod to form a physical pendulum. The period of the pendulum is measured with the wire bent at different angles. The period is long when the angle of the bend is large, and short when the angle is small. Even though the moment of inertia of the pendulum is unchanged, the center of mass raises when the angle is made large, thus effectively shortening the length of the pendulum.
