Butterfly net experiment.
PIRA: Unknown
A long conical cotton gauze net is attached to a ring on an insulated handle. The net is electrified, and the electric charge is found to be entirely on the exterior surface. Then the net is turned inside out by using one of the two silk strings attached to the apex of the cone. One again finds, upon testing for charge, that the charge is still entirely on the outside.
