Eddy Currents in a Pendulum
A pendulum bob of copper can swing freely between the poles of a large electromagnet when the current is off. When the magnet is on, the pendulum comes to a quick halt. The bob is then replaced by one of similar shape but which has slots to prevent the circulation of eddy currents.
